ASTIG TALAGA BAMBOO!!! Unlike sa mga biglang sumikat na banda ngaun, sila yung may pinaka may sense ang mga kanta (pakinggan mo mabuti kanta ng HALE) hehe
Taken from www.mtvasia.com/News/200510/13012642.htmlPhilippines - Ever since their first song off their debut album, As The Music Plays, hit the airwaves last year, Bamboo the band has grown into one of the most omnipresent acts in the Philippine music scene. Their phenomenal first song, "Noypi," still enjoys wide airplay, but their fresher single, "Hallelujah," from their sophomore album, LightPeaceLove, has proved to be a stronger contender. After Bamboo won the Best Group, Best New Artist, and the Favorite Song (for "Noypi") awards at last year's MTV Pilipinas Awards, it seems like there is no other way to go but up for the band led by ex-Rivermaya frontman Bamboo Mañalac, with Nathan Azarcon (bass), Ira Cruz (guitars), and Vic Mercado (drums). The fast ascent of the band may be partly attributed to the fact that Bamboo's frontman had his own loyal set of fans to begin with, but we’d like to think that the band has successfully proven their mettle after a string of hits and Bamboo the frontman has grown out of his Rivermaya days. Today, Bamboo is nothing less than a respected band with a distinct, addicting sound to which every music buff from any school of rock can easily get hooked. Bamboo sports a different sound in their second album, LightPeaceLove -- an inspired obra that took the band only three months to record. While the riffs are mellower than their first album, the lyrics, in contrast, are heavier. In the same thread as "Noypi," the cuts tackle socially relevant subjects -- proof that Bamboo has acquired more depth and maturity, both in songwriting and delivery. Despite the political undertones in "Hallelujah" and "Alpha Beta Omega," Bamboo denies being a political band. In an interview, Vic says: "I don't think we're really a political band, it's just that we have our own opinions about stuff that's going on." To which, Bamboo echoes: "We’re more like concerned citizens." Be it poetry or politics, Bamboo seems to be in their element. Other tracks in LightPeaceLove include "Dinner At 6," "04," "I-You," "F.U.," "Truth," "Peace Man," and "Children Of The Sun." -- Clara Enriquez
