Guidelines in Overcoming Difficulties in Math “Patience is a virtue” Steps on How to Overcome Math Problems and DifficultiesStep 1: Learn to ListenAlways listen to avoid those difficulties. Avoiding them would always be better than getting rid of them, right? Listening in class might give you hints or techniques. Listening to your classmates when asking help will not waste much more of his or her time. Be participative also. Do not go to the clinic and pretend you have a headache or go to the CR just to wash your face and jump. Step 2: Taking note of your difficulties Problems can be solved easily if we know what we are facing. This means that taking note of our difficulties will really make our life easier. This will insure us a complete list of what we should know, review or take note of… Step 3: Focusing on one difficulty first Focus on one difficulty first. Rushing things will not do anything good. Be sure that you have understood the previous problem before moving on to another. This will make the lesson less confusing and easier to understand… Step 4: Practice! Practice! Practice! Practice! Working on exercises during your available time will enhance your skills in Math. This will also lessen misconceptions and stupid mistakes that are often factors of having undesirable grades on lessons that you really understood… Step 5: Proper Self-Motivation and Positive Thinking Often times, we think that we can’t solve a certain problem that leads us not to try solving or thinking about it at all. Proper self-motivation and positive thinking will lessen those CAN'TS, NOs and DON’Ts and we will have us triumphant against these problems. Thinking that we CAN is a good way to start on solving a problem and kick that CAN'Ts out of the picture… Step 6: Mastery Mastery of a certain lesson will help us overcome another so if we remember the HOWs of previous lessons, we will not have a hard time solving a problem. Mastery of the topic is not just putting it in your head but also putting it in your heart because your heart will set you high so master the lesson as soon as possible as it will certainly be of use to you in the future… In Case You Encounter One YourselfWhen having a difficulty in one or more lessons, don’t hesitate to ask for much needed help and tips from teachers, classmates, friends and parents. Asking will do you no harm so just feel free to ask because being interrogative will help you learn new things and help you master your lesson so if something’s bothering you regarding the lesson: GO ON ASK! Also, following the said tips above will make your life easier. In Case Someone Needs Help When you see your friend or classmate having difficulty in one of the lessons, try to help him by volunteering yourself to teach him some techniques, skills and fundamentals you know that makes your Math life easier. By helping your friend, you gain more of his trust and the time will come that he might also help you in other fields that he excel in. By helping, you can also learn new techniques when helping him review. This may also be a form of practice for you so help ‘em all! |
